Areas of Competences

The Directorate General of Taxation and Property is specifically charged with:

  • Implementing Government’s taxation policy;
  • Drafting legislative and regulatory texts, as well as international conventions on taxation;
  • Determining the tax base; ensuring liquidation and control of direct and indirect taxes, registration fees, tax duties, land publicity taxes and other related taxes;
  • Mastering taxation litigation and related taxes;
  • Investigating and sanctioning omissions, concealment, insufficiencies, and tax offences in general;
  • Drawing up and inventory and managing private State moveable and immoveable property;
  • Alienating assets of private State moveable and immoveable property;
  • Ensuring the management of guardianship, successions, goods without ownership, and sequestered goods;
  • Ensuring collection and processing of tax information;
  • Representing the State before the courts on tax issues;
  • Handling, in collaboration with partner administrations, the national land register of the State;
  • Ensuring, in collaboration with partner administrations, respect for laws on property matriculation.
